Mr. Joe Wilkinson-Music

Hello Mammoth Heights Elementary! My name is Joe Wilkinson and I am your Music Teacher. I am extremely excited to be part of the Mammoth Heights Community and will do my very best to inspire students in all of their music aspirations. I have been an educator and local business man in the Parker community for 18 years. As the co-owner of Allegro Music here in Parker, I've had the opportunity to live my dream of owning and operating my own business. I am an educator at heart and love to teach. I am a graduate of the University of Utah and have been a musician for 35 years. During my time at the U of U, I was a member of the National CollegiateChampion Percussion Ensemble in 1991. I have taught drums and percussion privately and to many schools including Lewis Palmer High School, Heritage High School & Bonneville High School. As a graduate of Lewis Palmer High School in Monument, CO I was awarded the Louis Armstrong Award for outstanding Jazz Musician. I love to compose, perform and create outstanding productions for our community. I love to teach kids and inspire them to appreciate music.
I have been happily married for 15 years to my wife Robynne and have a 12 year old son, Gavin. I enjoy playing guitar, singing, drums and percussion and exploring the use of technology in composition and music arranging. I love Colorado and enjoy skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking and camping. I am looking forward to a great year.

Mrs. Betsy Sistek - Technology

Welcome! My name is Betsy Sistek and I am the Technology teacher at Mammoth Heights Elementary! Did you know that technology is any object, idea or process that people create to use and solve a problem? Whether it’s using an electronic device, a piece of paper, a stapler or a rubber band, we use technology everyday!

This is my first year at MHE as I am new to Parker! I have been teaching in Omaha, Nebraska for the past ten years and before that, I taught in California and Georgia. I have taught various subjects and grades in Elementary, Middle and High schools and am so excited to be teaching technology this year! I love school and teaching is my passion! I want students to be critical thinkers and ready for real word experiences.

When I’m not at school, you can find me with my husband and four kids. We’re busy doing activities and sports such as football, wrestling, volleyball, tennis, running, playing the piano, show choir or watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers play football! GO BIG RED!

Mrs. Brenda Van Dyke-Art

Hello from the art room!!

I am truly excited to see everyone of you and hit the ground running again and get messy!!

This last school year was my first at MHE, we made a lot of really great artwork while getting to know each other.

I am ready to carry on with this great momentum. Let’s get curious with wonder and never get bored. Create beyond our imaginations …and… get messy!!

After a really lovely summer spent with my family and friends, making artwork, reading and a bunch of other fun stuff, the art room has been quiet long enough.

Mr. Eric Sonnentag - Science

My name is Eric Sonnentag and I am a science teacher at this great school located in the Parker, Colorado community. I am an outdoorsman and my wife and I enjoy spending time being active in the many areas Colorado has to offer. I believe there are so many great things to see, do, and to learn about in Colorado. My wife of 9 years and I moved here in 2008 from southeastern Minnesota after graduating from Winona State University. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and I am not afraid of my cheesehead heritage. I enjoy running half marathons, spending time with our two dogs, working in the garden, and beekeeping. I hope that in my class your students will be challenged to ask questions of the world around them, and also have the tools to look for possible answers. I know that every student can find something in science they enjoy and I want to help them find those passions and explore them deeper. Science to me is more than memorizing the facts. It's about taking the information, making meaning of it, and then applying that information into other places. I look forward to working with all students and engaging them in some hands on, real-life opportunities.

Mr. Aaron Calkins - P.E.

Hello! My name is Aaron Calkins and I am the PE teacher here at Mammoth Heights! Many of our students here at MHE have had me in class last spring while I was student teaching. I am a very energetic, passionate, outgoing, compassionate, and patient person by nature. I absolutely love PE and all of the students that I have worked with. In my free time I love to lift weights, play soccer and basketball, go hiking, fishing, camping, do yard work, read, be outside and be active! My lifestyle is one of physical activity and this passion is something that I want to pass on to my students. Each day I promise to bring a positive attitude, passion, energy, and provide my students with opportunities to find success in every activity we do. They will also get the opportunity to do a very wide variety of activities from different cultures as well. I will strive to provide MHE with the most positive experience in PE they can have, so every student can leave class and have the skills to be physically active for the rest of their lives. It is an absolute honor and pleasure to be your PE teacher here at MHE, if you questions or concerns feel free to email me at amcalkins@dcsdk12.org. Thank you and have a wonderful day! Now get out there and eat well and be active!
