Student Council Overview

At Mammoth Heights Elementary we have an active student council organization. The purpose of student council is to promote good citizenship, involving students in the decision making process of our school to make it the best it can be, and allowing students to lead as a role model for others in the school student body. All students in grades 2 through 6 shall have the opportunity to participate in student council. The members of the student council shall be representatives elected by their homerooms. All student council officers (president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) are elected by the general student body after a special election assembly is held where speeches are delivered. Students that wish to be considered for student council must be a good role model for others, be a hardworking student, and have the ability to communicate information to homerooms from monthly meetings. Some of the activities that student council plans for the school include: an annual food drive for Parker Task Force, supporting the Belize Education Project through the book swap and supply drive, planning spirit days for the school, selling Valentine Grams, etc. Our goal as a student council at MHE is to make a global impact, make a local impact, and make positive impact on our own school. This organization allows our students to experience democracy in action.
