Reading Recovery

Mrs. Trina Belzer - Reading Recovery

I am very happy to be a part of the Mammoth Heights community!  I have been in Douglas County for 22 years and have been teaching for 23 years!  Many of my 23 years have been spent working in grades K-3, both in the classroom and as an interventionist.   I taught Kindergarten for two years as well as a 2/3 multi-age classroom, with the majority of my classroom time being spent in first grade.  As a  Literacy Specialist, I work with students in grades K-3 within the classroom, one-on-one, as well as in small group intervention.  This is my16th year as a Reading Recovery/Literacy Specialist.  My passion is early literacy intervention!  I love to see children learning to read!!  Learning to read is about being strategic and being a problem solver.  These are life long skills that children can learn to use through reading.

I received my Bachelor’s degree from UNC (University of Northern Colorado) and my Masters from Colorado Christian University!  I have a CLIP and Reading Recovery Certificate as well!  I have been in Colorado since 7th grade!

My family and I love all that Colorado has to offer!  I love teaching and am also committed to being a full time wife and mother!  I am so happy to be a part of the MHE community!

Mrs. Shannon Janes - Intervention Specialist

Hi, my name is Shannon Janes and I'm honored to be an Intervention Specialist here at MHE! I've been teaching for 13 years now. I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado and immediately began my career as a 1st grade teacher. It was in 1st grade where I found my love of teaching Reading.  I loved sharing great literature with children, teaching the technical strategies of learning how to read, and my favorite part was watching the "lightbulb" go on for my students when they learned how to read! After teaching only a few years, I went on to get my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in reading. I became a Literacy Interventionist and this is where I've been the past 5 years.
I live in Roxborough Park with my husband Dave and my two daughters, Kaitlyn and Maya. We absolutely love living near the mountains. On the weekends, my family and I love to be adventurous - spending a day in Estes Park, camping, or biking along the Platte River are some of the best days!
I look forward to working alongside the staff, students, and families of MHE!
